    Asus G2S: replacing 8600M GT with 8800M GTX

    Does anyone know if it's possilbe to replace the graphics unit (8600M GT) in an Asus G2S to the new 8800M GTX?

    -Some laptops have MXM cards... if you have MXMIII or MXMIV, odds are it will work, but there are no guarantees.
    -Some laptops have proprietary removeable video cards. (Dell, Toshiba) which may be able to be replaced provided you can get the specific card that will fit. Odds are against you, but it is not impossible.
    -Some laptops have their GPU soldered on their motherboard.
    I'd say it is pretty close to impossible.


    Pretty sure the G2S is in the last category.

    Yes and the 8800GTX is not for sale at webshops or computer stores. So it is impossible, even to get an 8800GTX.
