Hi all, I'm new to this forum and I have a few questions, if anyone can give me advices I'd greatly appreciate...
I have a Asus G2s that I bought about a year ago, the specs are as follows:
processor: intel core 2 duo T7500 @ 2.20GHZ
RAM: 2048
graphics card: GeForce 8600M GT 256MB
HDD: Hitachi HTS541616J9SA00 160Go 3200rpm
I was thinking about some upgrading as follows:
first off, I'm upgrading to 2x2Go RAM (easy)
then I was thniking about upgrading my HDD with a faster one. looking at the specs, the power consumption of mine is, at startup (peak) 5W and read/write at 1.8W
keeping Hitachi I saw they now have the HTS722020K9SA00 (200GB) that runs at 7200rpm, but the power consumption is 5.5W at startup (peak) and 2.3W at read/write
Will my pc be able to run it propely?
second thing: is it possible to upgrade my graphics card considering my pc is a laptop? and if yes, does anyone knows which one could fit? (I am looking for at least 512MB memory) - I have checked, the graphics card is not built in or anything and can be removed -
Thanks!!!

If you want a faster hard drive you should consider the 320GB Hitachi. It will run fine.
I don't know about your specific model, but most likely it is non-upgradeable due to it being soldered on. -
Your current harddrive is not 3200rpm. It is a 160gb 5400rpm SATA drive.
If you are sticking with Hitachi, go for their 7K320 series drives. They are quieter and more power efficient than the current drive you have, so upgrading it is a plus in every category.

thanks atbnet, I'll check up on that... last time I asked an asus retailer, he told me it wasn't soldered on the mainboard and could be changed...
thanks K-tron, you are right, it is 5400rpm, lol my bad
I'll look into the 7K320 series! -

Hi, I've got the G1s, very similar (but 15.4") to your G2s. I've upgraded the ram successfully, and the hard drive to a WD Scorpio Black 320 GB (7200 RPM). The video card, I'm afraid, is not upgradeable.
