ok. i finally chose a laptop. I went with the Asus G51Vx-RX05 and also got a laptop cooler.

    I have 3 ?'s

1). ive read reviews and saw that you can upgrade to 8GB ram but some people had problems. so the question here is what brand / model of 8GB can i put in here?

2). i kno it can handle a quad so my question here is: is the Q9000 the only quad it can handle?

3). i wanted to get a SSD. Since this comes w i think 1 320GB 7200 RPM drive, am i right in thinking i should get a 40 - 80GB SSD for the OS (win7 Pro) and use the 320GB for storage? (games, movies, music, random files etc) dunno if i need SATA II or III o well i can find out

P.S. it be awsm if some1 knew the motherboard info, then i could look up stuff myself. :p

    Thanks in advance. :D

    1. It works perfectly with 8GB's of memory.

    2. The RX05 can't run a quad, only the A1, X1, etc.

    3. You need SATA II.

I'm using a 64 GB SSD for Windows (still 60% free with Windows 7 and Office 2010 plus a lot of smaller programs) and a 320 GB HDD for storage. It is very fast, and still has plenty of room for music and games. SATA II as said above.

I have not gone with a RAM upgrade yet, but I'm looking at this from G Skill. I've never had a problem with their memory on other laptops.

I think you're SOL on the quad with any of the RX models...that's what I have read consistently on the forums, and I have never seen a claim of successfully installing a quad on any of the low-priced models. You can get a faster duo.

what's irritating is that i was going by what asus has on thier website. So im assuming they tossed out the info for the rx05 model cause it seems like the data there is for the newer models.
