I can play most games decently well on this laptop, but I'm getting horrible fps while playing Diablo 3. I've tried setting the hardware class in the D3Prefs.txt but It still unplayable for me. I was thinking about upgrading to the T9600, would I see any kind of performance gain?

I assume it's currently running an Intel Core 2 Duo P7350? Your GPU is more than fast enough for Diablo 3, the recommended GPU is a 330M. You could check if it's running hot and underclocking. Download and install HWMonitor. Run it while you're playing a game. If the CPU and GPU are over 95C, it's possible it's throttling. The recommended CPU for Diablo 3 is a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. The P7350 runs at 2.00GHz. You could use the built in Asus overclocking software to boost it by 100Mhz or so. First, check if it's running hot.
As for upgrading, that's fairly simple. Just remove the bottom panel and you have access to the components. I'd use Arctic MX-4 thermal paste, but any name brand will do. You can find a T9600 2.8GHz on eBay for only $60. You could also get a P9500 2.53GHz for $70. The only benefit the P9500 has over the T9600 is that it runs a bit cooler. But, if your laptop already runs cool enough, I'd get the T9600. -

Also check out the E8335, they overclock better than the T9600 and are sometimes cheaper.

You will notice a huge difference as the p7350 is on the limit for most games I play. I wish I had a p8600 but for you with a p7350/260m it could bottleneck you big time. You can get a p8600 very cheap £15-£20 that will be a huge upgrade for you.
