Hey guys. So recently I have been debating whether or not to try to 'downgrade' the screen in my Asus G55. Mainly for performance gain.

My old 'Gaming' laptop was a Lenovo Y560p that had a 1366x768 screen. My G55 is 1920x1080. The GTX 660m, just doesn't cut it in all games. And to be honest, games at 1366x768 on my Lenovo look better then when i bump it downto 1600x900 on my G55, my guess is it has something to do with interpolation.

Some G55vw's do have a 1366x768 screen. And i have found a vendor that sells G55vw screens at 1366x768.

Asus G55VW Laptop Screen, Call for Pricing (3 screens, including 15.6 wxga hd led, 16 led)

Is there any way to know if my G55vs is compatible?

I have tried Asus support and they kinda went.... 'thats a good question' and then proceeded to tell me that 1920x1080 is a better resolution then 1366x768. The fact that im looking for a lower res screen on purpose for the performance gain went right over thier heads. lol

My exact model is the Asus G55vw-ES71, if that helps.

    Thanks in advance guys. :)

Edit: If this is in the wrong section i appologize. :)

Just an update guys. I did the downgrade. :) After alot of research (and a little tinkering) I found out that my old Lenovo Y560p and new G55 had screens with the same size, backlight type, connector (and in the same location for cable compatibility) so I decided to attempt the swap. Everything is working great on both systems.

Since the G55 is my gaming machine and im looking for performance the 1366x768 screen is amazing. And since the Lenovo has been a general purpose/entertainment (movies/music) machine the 1080p display will work nicely. Very happy with the results on both machines.
