Hey guys,
In the name of scientific research I am doing a little poll to determine the user base of the M17X and G73.
Both very popular laptops and very similar but is the user base similar?
You do not have to be a forum member to vote!
Voting is open to the pubic
If you own a G73 a M17X or Both.
Please click HERE to place your ownership vote.
For those not voting or have already voted and want to view up to date results HERE is the link to see the current poll.

Sorry to rain on the parade, but OT isn't open to public users. So it might have to be moved for more accurate results.

Yeah I just thought about that too but need a mod permission to post the same topic in 2 places, or permission to put it in say the hardware section.
-
What do I vote if I had an M17x, currently own a G53 and plan to buy a G73 when they roll out the SW version ?

Otherwise lots of "soon to be" owners may vote and never end up being an owner.
Look up the poll and vote when you get your new G73 -
I own a G73HJ.
-
Go Asus G-series!
ViciousXUSMC nice job -
g73, for the time being.

I hope to see a AMD 6900 w/ Sandy Bridge G73 come around at some point, but I wonder if that will happen.
Top it off with the 120hz Matte Screen they have on the 3D models and thats a dream laptop come true. -

Yep collecting data, I want to see how close my educated guess of Alienware:Asus owners is.
This is an important statistic for determining certain factors.
You can view the data after you vote, but for those not voting here is a public link to see the results. -
2: 6900 series - good - hope this forces nvidia to come off its new found pricing
3: would be very happy if WE could upgrade to a 460/470/480/570/580/6900 (mobiles)
4: or upgrade the screen to 120 hz as well.
im not really ready to give up full chip control just yet. and this is really only missing 2 things at this point.
usb 3.0 and a express slot. -

I am doubting we will get the 120hz matte screen option on non-3d models, and that probably also means any non nvidia models.
Im hoping its pin compatible though so that a manual swap is possible. That screen is the jack of all trades, matte (finally!) so no glare and about 2x-3x brighter than even the brightest laptop screens out there, so probably easily able to be used even in direct sunlight.
USB 3.0 not preset on the current sandy bridge so I doubt they will create a new mobo for future versions but we can hope.
I have pretty much gotten over no expresscard slot, never had one so guess I never had to lose the convenience of it. -
expresscard slot IS for 3.0...
and they can run any high end 120hz screen and it would work. that other stuff is just hype. hooked up one to this and it ran fine. -

Take back what I said about the 120hz 3D display being limited to Nvidia only, AMD has announced the HD3D tech that is identical to Nvidias tech so they could share the same 3d display & transmitter.
AMD HD3D Technology

@ViciousXUSMC You crossposted about this thread in quite a few G73 owners lounges in the ASUS forum. I deleted all but one of those posts per the forum rules. Thanks for your understanding.

Poll is not scewed. Simply I was waiting for mod permission to cross post in AW forums, three is no M17X owners lounge, but now its here in hardware and this is the only place it is.
This poll is going to run for a long time, having a 2 hour head start is not going to screw results.
Also these two machines are very comparable, the G73 comes stock with a much better configuration than the M17X until you upgrade several options and then the price takes off.
Look now similar these are
http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/4903/m17xvsg73.jpg
Same CPU - i7 740
Same GPU - AMD 5870 (edit 5870M vs GTX460 old G73 model has the 5870M but now comes with GTX460 about 5% difference)
Same RAM - 8GB
G73 has Blueray and M17X has DVD only
M17X has 1920x1200 and G73 has 1920x1080
G73 has better warranty
G73 has Hybrid SSD HDD's and M17X has standard HDDS
So G73 is equal and/or better in all departments but the screen.
Price?
G73 normal price $1719.00 speical price after rebate $1619.00 w/ Free Shipping
M17X price $2824.00 .....
Now the actual science about this poll is not about what laptop is better, or anything like that its just a statistic for number of owners. Take it for what it is and keep the fighting out of it please. -

Im not going to argue about what laptop is better again, just vote here go argue else-ware.
I do have great counter arguments to over half the stuff your trying to say though Joker most of what your saying is just opinionated and your trying to pass it off as factual.
From here forward respect my thread and what I asked.
This is a vote to determine owner base, not a war of laptops battle of supremacy thread. -

But I had them all removed and now just this one post remains.
I was looking for a M17X owners lounge but they did not have one so I had to make a thread dedicated, but instead we just moved it to hardware to share one thread.
Tell you what I will remove the first 2 hours votes thats how long it took to get this moved. -

And, dammit, why were last dozen posts Alienware versus Asus. Vote, then get off if you're going make fun of either laptop or company. I just want to see how the results go. -

Now that the fires have calmed lets keep the votes coming in !
-
Add me for G73... Vicious i myself was suprised with the fires being so out of control.. maybe you should have done the poll here.

Check with each company (AW/Asus) and find out how many of each have shipped. That might give you a more accurate representation of ownership worldwide... that is, if they tell you the truth.
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Yeah but it actually would not be the statistic I want, only people that view the forums count in this one
-
I didn't expect there to be so many more asus g73 owners compared to the people owning an m17x since that laptop exists so much longer.
Another example of price triumphing over general built quality and raw power. -
Bump ,to make up for recent post deletions
