I am assuming you have a G series? If so, no you can not upgrade the GPU nor can anyone to my knowledge.

From the ASUS g series lounge on this very website!

That is no longer true. You still can't upgrade, but all G73 use a standard MXM adapter. I fried a 6970m in my JH (worked fine for a short while though) and svl7 tried a 470m in the JW and couldn't get it to work. On the G74, the GPU is soldered to the motherboard.

You mean standard MXM slot? The problem is that the card itself is not standard.

It would have worked fine for you if you rebuilt the heatsink.

Looks like you're in the same situation with the g53. At least its not soldered on:

But seriously. 560m? Thats not worth it. The 560m is just an overclocked 460m. Unless you happen to find an Asus gtx 560m which would be extremely difficult and costly.
Better to rebuild the heatsink like I mentioned, then it will probably take most standard MXM cards, at least ATI ones like the 6970m or 6990m which are much better than the 560m anyway.

Even if you did find an Asus 560m, it might be 128 bit because it wouldn't make sense for someone to pull it from their system otherwise. And that would be worse than your current 460m, unless its 128 bit too.

Yes, the size isn't standard, a modded JH heatsink does the job fine though for the other G73s. Previous Asus cards had a different proprietary MXM socket as well. Like i said on my previous post, it is physically possible to fit a standard MXM card in a G73, but it's unlikely it'll work.
