I opened the case of my 5 months old Asus K750JN Laptop and noticed that the MB is marked as X 750 FOR JN.

I plan to add memory and perhaps a SSD and would like to know the difference in order to get the right parts

    Thanks

RAM and SSD is not dependent on the MB per se, rather it is more closely tied to the cpu for these latest generation platforms. DDR3L 12800 (Lower voltage 1.35V SoDimms) or better for the RAM and any standard 2.5" SSD (though you may need to get a 7mm instead of a 9.5mm Z-height model).

Make sure you ignore any TLC nand like the original Samsung 840 and the latest 840 EVO's (and possibly the 850 EVO's too) since they have huge read speed issues (not all Samsung's ssd's, just some - just how lucky do you feel? :) ).

Don't forget to take OP'ing into account too when considering which capacity SSD to buy. The most performance is offered in models 480-512GB capacity points and higher (whether you OP or not). Smaller capacity SSD's are not worth buying - even at $50 (assuming a 2015 and forward 'normal' workflow).

    Good luck.
