    Hello!
I own a Asus G74s and the specs of which are-Intel Core i7-2670QM
    GPU @ 2.20GHz
    8.0GB RAM
    Nvidia GeForce GTX 560M
    1TB HDD
    17.3 inch 1600x900 Res LCD

Not to be confused with the Asus G74sx Which the only differences that i can tell are that it has a 1920x1080 res screen, couple more GB's of ram, blueray player and a 500 GB's larger HDD.

My question to all you Brilliant people is.... Could i purchase a 1920x1080 LCD made for the G74sx and install it into the G74s? Seeing is that the Specs are almost identical? or am i missing something here?

Yes you're missing the fact that Asus doesn't manufacture LCDs :p

So, you can use a Dell LCD, HP or whatever as long as its 17.3" LED backlit, with a few exceptions, stay away from lenovo (I'm sure the prices would encourage you not to buy anyway). These LCDs may or may not be the exact same model on the g74sx, they should work either way.

    I have this LCD:
Chi Mei 17.3" FHD LCD Panel for DELL M6600 L702X (N173HGE-L11)
    Its a bit grainy though.

17.3" 1080p AU Optronics V4..this is the one to get. This is probably the best panel available.

So My G74s Would be fine going from a 1600x900 to a 1920x1080 res LCD? just as long as its 17.3'' and LED back lit? i just dont want to hurt anything because of more power output etc... (But as you can see they are almost identical other then the LCD's res)

you can do it...but you'll need some skill. I know someone that cracked the casing trying to get the lcd panel out of an alienware m17. The Asus should be similar.

The m17x has an LCD bezel that is glued to the casing... While my w870cu also had that glue at the bottom it wouldn't have been nearly as easy to crack it I think.

I don't know about Asus. From what I've noticed they tend to use metal lids which generally involve less clips & glue and more screws.
