    Hey guys..

I bought this laptop off someone (through a local craigslist ad) last summer, due to shortage on cash and the need to get a portable solution.

    Now, I have a problem...

Invited a family over and one of the kids either closed or opened the laptop in a way that the latch or the lock fell out along with the spring..

By the time I reached the spot the part itself had vanished in thin air..

Now.. I cant basically close the screen since the laptop has no latch, I tried searching online for this part but nothing seems to work out..

I tried emailing a few companies that sell this, they never got back to me..

I tried Asus about 2 times in a row now, they wouldnt getback to me either..

Any help in locating a new part would be apprciated..

I'm not sure if you can buy it separately, but the ESTORE@ASUS sells the M3N parts. You can most likely get it replaced by purchasing the bottom case, it should come with it, or you can ask the ASUS store directly if you can purchase the latch itself.
Not sure if this matches your machine, but I don't see why not, it's listed as the M3N bottom Case.

You can get the part number here:

For $16, I think it's still an excellent deal.

On further investigation and examination, it looks like the hinge part is on the top case.

No picture available, but it seems that you need to buy that instead for $30.

I don't recommend it. Infact unless your highly technical and can do a motherboard swap on your desktop machine, this would be 3x more difficult and would require additional patience and skills. Ontop of that I would recommend that if you do tackle this, do this after a good days rest with no sense of urgency where you have to go somewhere right after.

It's better if you went to a local Asus dealer and have them replace it for you if you think it's too technical.

In the meanwhile, I'll try to find a disassembly guide for you...
