So there are 2 different types of crashes (To my knowledge). One is the laptop will just completely turn off and when turned back on it will pop up with a Windows Recovery Error (I'll usually be browsing the internet). The next is the laptop will crash and pop up with green horizontal thick lines with space between each and black horizontal thick lines within those spacings which I then know I can't do anything so I turn it off and back on and it as well comes with a Windows Recovery Error. Another thing I noticed is the notebook, when completely shutdown, will have the Cap Locks and Num Locks as well as the 3 buttons above that still on, like I said even though it's completely shutdown, with this I can feel the computer still running even though the screen is black. My brother who is in the army who deals with computers says its an over heating issue which is resulted in taking the notebook completely apart and applying Arctic Silver 5 High Density Poly-synthetic Thermal Compound onto (I'm pretty sure) the GPU and around it as well. When that was done it was working amazing, no crashing or anything I could watch movies or play games for hours but, as soon as he left it all went back to crashing. He monitored the temperatures with something he installed and at first the GPU would reach about 130-140 degrees Fahrenheit and crash, and after the application to the GPU it would with stand it. This problem has been going on for quite some time I would have to say about 6 months and the computer is well out of warranty. The graphics and video drivers are all up to date with Nvidia. If anyone needs more information let me know if you have any information that may be helpful that would be amazing, thanks in advance.
(P.S: Sorry if I'm not to computer technical so if you could please dumb down your computer literacy for me ahahah. Sorry if this doesn't belong in this Topic)

hi
at work at mo so cant post links or pictures but the lines sounds like a dying graphics card.
can you take a picture of the screen using a cell phone and post it on here.
the thermal paste should either be a small pee shaped or line in middle so it does not spill out the sides. if your brother put it around it as well this might be too much but without pictures its difficult to advise.
what is the system spec. cpu/gpu/ram/hdd/ssd
you can find lots of monitoring software in my sig below and its best to post temperatures in celcius.
