    I have SanDisk SSD U100 24GB (24.02 GB) -- drive 1, s/n
123987403169, rev CS.56.02 in my ASUS S400CA notebook. I don't find any way to know whether it is being used as cache or not. In system properties virtual memory, it shows system managed in C drive with 1147mb currently allocated. How to know whether SSD cache is used? if not how to use it?

The virtual memory or pagefile.sys file that is used to manage low RAM situations is not related to your SSD being used as a cache or not.

Do you have Intel RST drivers installed? That should give you more information whether the SSD is being used for caching.

In the meantime; can you see the SSD in Computer or Disk Management as a separate drive?

One way to see if the SSD is being used is to measure how fast your system boots - it should be very fast - probably around 15-30 seconds.

    Good luck.

I have seen a reply by intel in similar situation as said in
Unable to configure SSD cache on new Lenovo Y500
Unable to configure SSD cache on new Lenovo Y500
    In this, it is said
"SSD cache or acceleration does not work under AHCI. If you like to enable this feature the computer requires RAID mode. If your computer model does not support RAID then, SSD cache is not supported."
In BIOS, only AHCI or IDE mode is available. Hence the doubt whether SSD cache is used or not?

Regarding booting, upto login it takes around 15 secs and another 30 secs to full working condition. I had another ACER laptop, where there was no SSD cache. there also it was 18-20 and 35-40 secs only. I think this may be due to windows 8 fast start up using hibetnate-shutdown.
