    Hi,

i want to max upgrade my asus v51vx (intel c2d p7630 2ghz, 4gb ram, gtx 260m). So i think i can go with cpu, ram and hdd. Will QX9300 fit my laptop or motherboard does not support that? I have 320gb - i want more - can i add one more hdd for raid?

    Thanks in advance!

What exact model is that? the BestBuy models do not support quadcore, and the other C2D models I know of (X1A and X2A) are unknowns, so I don't believe anybody knows right now if your model supports quads, your best bet would probably be an X9300, but you'd be better off with a T9900 as it has a lower TDP and the bios for the g51 is locked, thus negating the bonuses of the X9300. You can install a second HDD, it is fairly easy, however you'll want to buy a HDD caddy from the asus estore for about 20$

    Thanks for a promt response,

i have Asus G51VX-RX05 . I agree that it's better to upgrade with t9900 rather than x9300 . Do you know how much can i overclock it without using additional cooling devices? I'm kind of new to this...

That really depends on the CPU, they aren't all the same.

You have no warranty, so mod away.

You need to add your copper and drill thread to your sigspace somehow Forge.

I'm going to make a full on cooling thread as soon as I get everything done. Just waiting for one more heatspreader for the RAM.

Please tell me please what i need to upgrade my asus g51vx-rx-05 with x9300. Except for the cpu of course. I mean some additional coolers or what? And how long the battery lasts with x9300 without gaming - just ms office and internet.

    Thanks!

Only place I go to get ram is Newegg...usually get my CPUs there too. You'll also need a good thermal paste to apply to the CPU+ Heatsink. I recommend IC Diamond 7 or Arctic Silver MX-2/MX-3
