    Hi

Please help , ive just fitted a new hard drive to my lap to and entered Bios to change the boot sequence so that i can install a new operation system.

Im in the Bios but it will not let me change the Boot Configuration which is greyed out and not accessible. Therefore i cant change it to boot from the DVD drive ?

Any ideas or help please ?

Hi Thank you for that , but my understanding is slightly above beginners mode.

All i am trying to do is replace the original hard drive(Windows 8) with another faster hard drive so that i can put my own windows 7 onto the new hard drive and do away with all the software which i dont need on the original hard drive.

Ive done this many times on my desktop computers with no problem but for some reason i cant access the boot sequence ??

Good suggestion by Abidderman, you can also try pressing ESC key shortly after power on once secure boot is disabled in BIOS, this will allow you to change boot sequence via the arrow keys.

    Hi

Ive now disabled secure boot and im a little further , but still stuck. I still cant see an option which allows me to boot from the DVD drive. In the BOOT screen i have Boot option priorities and at present it is listing Boot option #1 windows boot manager which is pointing to the original installed hard drive.I thought this is where the option to select other drives would be ?

    Hi Guys

Ive sorted this and i will advise just in case anyone else is intending to fit a new hard drive and theIr own windows 7 operating system.

1 / Press Esc on booting up to enter the Bios.
    2/ Disable Secure boot
3/ In Boot Configuration Launch CMS and change from Disabled to Enabled - it will now show Launch PXE OpROM.
4/ Save changes in Bios settings and reboot.
5 / When you reboot press Esc and you will now be given the option to boot from Hard drive or DVD.

    Hope this helps others.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to say you didn't have a beginners understanding, I just was trying to point out that UEFI and secure boot might be the reason you were having issues and that there was a workaround. I am happy you found a fix. This will help others in the future.
