What card do you currently have installed, and are you having any issues with it?

I'm not sure it would be worth the upgrade - that is quite an expensive card. The 5005 is cheaper. ;)

The original one is intel I 802.11b I believe. I want to upgrade to take advantage of 802.11g. I can't find prices for the 5006x, would you know how much or where I should look? Thanks

Hm..last I saw them they were on eBay. Not sure if any retailers sell them right now.

How about upgrading to an Intel 2915? It's got the A/B/G bands - great card, I have it in my notebook. Plus, it's not expensive.

Where are you in PA? I'm in the Hershey area. Someone is trying to sell one for $65 (5006x). I just saw a lot of posts that ppl have probs with intel, so that's why I'm asking about the atheros.

The Atheros card I found was more stable firmware and connectionwise.

Of course, if you have the cash, upgrading it would be nice.

But the cash could go to RAM instead, if thats needed

I'm 99% sure its compatiable, just pop the old one out, new one in, attach the wires and voila!

Boot it up and you'll magically see the old 'Centrino' logo change to a "Pentium M" logo :D
