    okay....who wins....?

in general productivity, flash video playback, compiling(programming code).

ps, yes, i'm comparing the M11x to my current lappy.

well the m11x will play games better but if you are just doing general tasks and nothing graphically demanding the m11x aint worth it as there are many cheaper alternatives with more powerful cpu's. i reckon the m11x would handle those tasks just fine though

    i game as well.

but i just need the comparison between the CPUs, everything else is irrelevant(hence why i ddin't include it ;) ).

if [something - in this case the CPU] is not benefitting me more in 85% of use cases, then it doesn't matter how much better it does in the other 15%.

as well, i'm not caring about 'good enough.' I'm caring about BETTER.

well the SU7300 gets a better cpu passmark result although its not a significant difference that result is at the stock 1.3ghz and ive heard the alienware can overclock it to something like 1.73ghz which would make a difference as the limiting factor with this cpu is the clock speed.

i liked the alienware m11x when it was anounced but then i saw the cpu and though this would be a downgrade for me so i was put off it. hopefully there will be a second generation with a more powerful cpu with power more like my current T8100 which is plenty for me

    the passmark scores were

    athlon 879

    SU7300 989

The intel will run cooler, and probably handle HD video better. Other than that I'd say it's a toss. Both are low-voltage, thin and light processors... Plus in the future, there's a chance you could use that GT335m in the M11x for GPGPU features such as CUDA or OpenCL.

ur better off not buying an M11x... although it has a great gaming GPU for its size , the screen is too small and the CPU isn't very powerful... if ur really willing to spend 1K +++ , try ASUS G51VX... come with core 2 duo p8700 which is quite fast but old... if u got $1400-1600 , u can get ASUS G73... come with i7 quad , ATI 5870 , 8Gb RAM and will blow away everything in single card laptops..... price is also a blow away...
