    Hi,
does somebody have some netbook with Intel Atom N2600 and tested 4GB RAM module there?
I know that N2600 supports officially only 2GB, but higher model N2800 supports 4GB.
I want to buy ASUS Eee PC 1011CX-BLK054S, but it has only 1GB RAM. I want upgrade it to 4GB for better usage with Win 7.

    Old series won't work.
Just get the new series...they look better too.

Honestly, if you're looking at netbooks, check out the Acers with the AMD C-60. I bought one for my wife and installed an 8GB DDR3 SODIMM :)

While other O/S's can use more than 4GB RAM even if they're 32bit O/S's, any Windows based O/S cannot.

Windows Starter is specifically limited to 2GB AND it's also 32bit - I don't see how a 'patch' can make it work with 4GB RAM?

I dont know how it works, but it changes windows starter to start in beta mode and removes the beta logo, maybe the beta version could use more that 2gb , I don't know but it works, see link below.

I'll install higher version of Windows 7 or Windows 8. I know that Win7 starter is limited to 2GB.

Yeah, I already suggested the C-60. I bought my wife an Acer netbook with the C-60 from Target for just under $200, since it already came with Win 7 Home Premium. For about $150, I picked up an 80GB Intel 320 SSD and an 8GB DDR3 memory module. That little netbooks is pretty quick for most jobs now.

I have had two netbooks one with an N2800 and another with an N2600 , both have the GMA 3650 GPU , this gpu is great for video, even up to 1080p , but it is pitiful for any gaming, even very old games are unplayable and it is worse than older gpu`s in previous atom netbooks, it gets a WEI score of 1

I've seen these really inexpensive 11.6" Acer's with the C60. I almost bought one. It would be a great little companion when traveling about as they're really compact, light & perfect for jotting note, browsing the web, and even streaming media. Are you satisfied with the quality? The reason I'm reluctant to get one is simply because of the Acer brand and quality reputation.

Ouch! 1? By 1080p, are you talking about output from HDMI?

I did not try it myself , but a review of the same netbook said it played 1080p with only a couple of dropped frames, I think it was on-screen, though hdmi should be the same.

My favorite old game is Freespace 2, I have played it on every notebook and netbook forever, and on 640x480 it was jerky and glitchy on the GMA 3650 GPU with the latest driver, and i recon Intel will update the driver very rarely.

I myself own Acer D2270 equipped with Atom N2600

AIDA64 software shows that the North Bridge chipset of Cedarview can support upto 4GB Ram,

Also here a user of ACER D270 has successfully upgraded the RAM to 4GB!. it might be useful if you contact him for the impacts. I will give it a try later...

Many users complain that Atom N2600/N2800 doesn't have 64bit support... ignore them..
the only down side is the driver support for GMA 3600 series from intel.. any how there is a work around for that...

I am running windows 7 64bit with dual extended monitors in my Acer D270 with N2600.. I can play HD movies flawlessly even while using extended monitors... I also often use Arch linux (with light weight GUI) through VM from my windows.. every thing is fine.... you just have to know how to juice out of it.. :-D

...hi, what would the workaround be?
