I'm sure this is a dumb question, but I've googled for an answer, and am forced to ask.

I'm installing xp (from vista) on a hp dv2530ea (there's some great info here), but like many am having difficulty getting the sound to work properly.

So I want to know what is the hardware on my system. I've used a number of tools including PC Wizard and SIW, but cant see anything listed for the sound. This is confusing as some here who are downgrading similar machines are using Realtek, while others are using Conexant.

If the sounds integrated into the GM965 or x3100 chips why do you need either of these dirvers. I just want to know what the sound hardware is on this system, and any recomendations for getting it to work on the 2530. Excuses for being a bit of a noob.

    Thanks for helping. :)
