I'm having issues with my laptop's sound output. When I listen to music through the laptop's speakers, everything sounds fine, but when I play music through headphones or external speakers, there's this strange distortion behind everything. Also, the sound skips, just like a scratched CD might. The cords I'm using are fine, and when i wiggle the cord at the input it doesn't distort, so I don't think it's a problem with the audio jack. Oddly enough, the audio seems to skip more often if I'm using the mouse. I don't even need to be using programs, it's just the act of moving the mouse around on screen that seems to make it worse. I tried to record a sample of the problem with Audacity so I could show people, but for some reason when I try to record the sound coming out of the speakers it won't work. It says it can't play back the file.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?
