Hi there,
The main codec makers for audio seem to be IDT, Realtek and Analog Devices. What are the audio quality differences between these? I know the crab and Analog Devices seem to have better drivers, but I don't know the differences in sound quality. This isn't a problem thread, it's more a "I wonder" thread.

Realtek is the best because IDT driver support is non-existent. Sound-wise they're pretty close.

Some realtek codecs have problems outputting high volumes. They appear to be sort of "muted" and unable to achieve full volume.

Really? I have the IDT Control Panel on my Dell Studio and it seems to work... Jack detection can be a bit funky though...

If you did have problems though, you're SOL for a driver update. They make the vender supply the drivers... which rarely if ever happens.

Seconded, besides most of the time getting any control panel with extra options is oftentimes out of the question, I'm used to the extras my 11 year old HP has
