No matter what brand I've searched, the existing ones are all out of stock or end of life.

What are the existing and available internal HD for laptops, 9.5mm height, 7200 RPM that have a minimum capacity of 600 GB ?

    Thanks for your suggestions.

Meh. I'm waiting to get a new hard drive too, but I would suggest holding off until Black Friday if you can. Cause I am. :DD

about about an external? do you have a eSATA or usb 3.0? or a card bus slot thingy ^^ forget what its called. you can add a card that has eSATA or usb 3.0. Than you cna get a 1-2TB external. I am archiving all my games and movies and i almost filled my 1TB external ^^ need a 2TB one now.

I see your in Canada so i am not sure who ships there but you can check

    amazon.com
    zipzoomfly.com
    ecost.com
shopping.google.com (i think thats the right url)
newegg.com (obviously its out for the canda place)
    NeweggMall.com (they sell somee electronics)
    tigerdirect.com
    bestbuy.com :p
    walmart.com :p

*shrugs* there are more but thats all i use or can remember....you could try ebay but i dont trust them ^^

I want it internal for best performances. I currently have an external Western Digital, but I definitely want internal and at least 600gb / 7200 rpm. Price doesn't matter too.

side note...an external 3.5 inch hardrive is far faster....i assume you know that but throwing that out there. I got that for all my games ^^ it has a 133 read and 123MBps write ^^ For sequential of course.

If you're notice in my signature, I'm using the Samsung MP4 drive. Works quite nicely. I have it as my data/nedia drive, so performance wasn't the biggest factor.

a gimmick? I love my external its eSATA far faster than my internals and was very cheap. SSD are still too expensive in my eyes...especially when i only make 20g a year :/ it would be 1 week or 2 week pay to get a fast solid reliable SSD :/

Seagate's 750GB 7200rpm should be coming soon. But they've been saying that for three months.

Some benchmarks for the Sammy from a Newegg review:

    SS=Samsung HM640JJ , SG=Seagate ST9640320AS 5400/640mb/2.5", WD=Western Digital WD1001 7200/3.5" desktop drive

    sequential read/write mb/s
    SS 112/106
    SG 89/86
    WD 111/109

    Random 512kb read/write mb/s
    SS 36/40
    SG 35/41
    WD 47/68

    Random 4kb read/write mb/s
    SS .910/.910
    SG .815/.774
    WD .766/1.711

Also consider ST9640320AS. It's very fast for a 5400rpm drive, coming close to Samsung HM640JJ performance.

save your money go with a HDD f3 and an enclosure. once that hdd dies its over. i had a 750gb seagate on the go and that died so much for all your files!
