I am running windows vista on an acer aspire 3680-2682 that i upgraded the processor in. Resently i have noticed an increase in the idle temperature of the computer. When i origionally installed the new processor, it ran at around 42-44 deg C. Now it runs at about 50 deg C. I am just wondering what other people out there have for temperatures with these processors. Thanks.![]()

I have a T5300 in my Dell, and it peaks at around 53-56C, which is 130F or so. I crunch numbers, so those are the absolute hottest that it gets. I always have the fans on full.
I undervolted the processor from 1.175V to 0.950V, which helps to cut the temperatures by about 10C.
I use CPU RIGHTMARK RMCLOCK management to undervolt my processor. I highly recommend it, it will help lower temps and help increase battery life.
You can download rightmark from cpuid's website.

The CPU temperature will depend on (a) CPU workload, (b) the operational settings for the cooling system; (c) the ambient temperature and (d) the effectiveness of the cooling system.
If your temperatures have increased then the cause may be (i) some processes are causing the CPU spend less time in the low power states; (ii) the coling system is becoming clogged; or (iii) the ambient temperature is higher. Or did you update the BIOS? This might have changed the fan operating rules.

If you have the money buy a Solid state disk.

I have the T5250 in my inspiron 1520 and it rarely gets above 155F (68C) and that's only if I'm doing some intense gaming.

Usually anywhere from 90-140 degrees in F.

Rough temps you should be getting
Idle 39-45c
Average load 45-55
Heavy load/Gaming 55-65
Full CPU Stress test 65-75 -
Lowers it 10C to 56-58C-ish.
Pretty much the same temps as you, same CPU.
Average Temps for a Core 2 Duo T5300 @ 1.73Ghz
