    Averatec Hard Drive Replacement

    Hey, all--I had an Averatec 3250 laptop hard drive die, and I am trying to replace it. This is my first hard drive replacement in a laptop, and I had a couple questions. I got the original (bad) drive out...it's a Hitachi Travelstar 80 GB, ATA/IDE, 4200 RPM drive. Would I be able to replace that with a similar Travelstar that is 5400 RPM? Thanks for your help!

    Yes as long as it's ATA/IDE and 2.5".

    You can upgrade or replace the drive as long as you use a ATA/PATA/IDE drive which has a 2.5" form factor and a 9.5mm height.
    If you are looking for performance at a decent cost, consider the Samsung Hm160HC, it is the fastest drive for the interface, and it is very quiet and inexpensive.
