Hello everybody,
I am looking forward buying a 500 GB to 1 TB PORTABLE external hard drive with no POWER cable.
I am really confused on which one to buy.
Would like your suggestion and reviews on them.

I'm guessing when you say portable that means you want it to be small, in which case getting a 2.5" drive with an enclosure would probably be your best bet. This limits you to a 500GB drive, though. If you want more capacity you'll have to go up to 3.5" drives.
Here are some 500GB drives to choose from, and here is an external enclosure. I have that enclosure, and it's great. -
I think there was a decent 500 GB capacity by Hitachi, and even a HW Scorpio HDD from what I've heard in the other forums regarding 500 GB HDDs..

Something like the Seagate FreeAgent Go (500GB for 113.99 USD on Amazon.com).
Or the Western Digital My Passport Essential (500GB for 117.99 USD on Amazon.com).
I believe the Seagate has a 5 year warranty, the Western Digital one has a 3 year warranty.
I own the Seagate. -
I just bought a Vantech NextStarNX enclosure and put a Hitachi 500Gb drive into it. Cost me about $75- for the whole thing.
The Hitachi has a 5 year warranty.
