    Hi.

My laptop is an Asus n56vz.

The problem occur when i hotplug my Samsung flat screen via HDMI. It works fine until my laptop enters sleep mode, and then resumes. This usually results in a BSOD, both in win7 and win8.1.

If I, on the other hand, plug in the HDMI before power on my laptop, there seems to no problems.

The Asus users manual mention nothing about not hotpluging your HDMI. So I guess it should be all right.

Could this be a hardware flaw which I should get Asus to fix? Or could it have got something to do with missing grounding? I read somewhere windows can react to a drop in voltage with a BSOD, when unpluging 2'nd usb on a usb drive, with two usb connector on the pc-end of the cable.

Hope someone have got some insight :)

What do you mean missing grounding?

Did you pry off this pin? If you did, you could have potentially fried your motherboard.

No. Some older outlets haven't got ground at all. Been living with this for years, no frying motherboards. A few shocks now and then though...
My samsung Tv comes with one of those flat plugs, that only have zero(is this the right expression?) and phase, no ground.

I have now put some hard work into grounding both my laptop and samsung smart tv. So besides both being connected to ground, they are now interconnected. This gives me a difference of aprox. 0.001AC-0.056AC.
This brings nothing new to the table, so now I guess my question is just "Is it ok to to hotplug the HDMI on my laptop", becouse when i do, I get BSOD after resuming my laptop from sleep?

By the way, I have been through various installations, drivers both Asus specific and nvidia update.
