I currently have a 100GB notebook sata hard drive as my backup.
I like it because it don't need any power adapters. I can just plug it into my notebook and go. However since the backup hard drive is getting full and cause have a fair amount of computers where live, which are in different places like my bedroom, living room, basement, bathroom ect :D I find it annoying bringing the hard drive with me everywhere and I need more space.

I would like to get at least 500GB maybe 1TB of backup. Also I would like it if I could hook it up to my router and be able to access it with all my networked computers. But still I would like it to be able to be carried around and be directly connected to a computer when needed.

I would like to have and external hdd enclosure and put in my own hard drive so I have the option of upgrading the hard drive when necessary.

So it might be a'lot to ask but if anyone knows what I'm looking for please reply. Thanks

Buffalo Technology makes some excellent NAS, check out the LinkStation Pro Duo 1 TB model, it has 2 x 500 GB HDDs, can be configured in RAID-0 or RAID-1. The built-in software is very good and easy to use, my cousin just bought one last week for his office and I played around with it. You can get one for under US$300. If this is too expensive, they have other single drive models too.

It will work, but I believe that doesn't include the 2 HDDs.

The Buffalo one is a pretty good deal, it includes both HDDs, and the whole thing is really small, not much bigger than two 3.5" HDDs stacked together. I don't know how good Galaxy's built-in configuration software is, but the Buffalo one I've tried and it's pretty good and simple to use. Also, I believe you will get better support with the bigger brands.
