Okay, so the soundcard on my XPS 1530 is causing trouble... or, I think. I had a spiel recently where I bought Razer HP-1 Barracuda headphones, and music would occasionally cackle in the background. I returned them for a Creative Fatal1ty and mousepad, but am having the same issue. I plugged in my old USB headset and discovered that the cackle had always been in the music, at seemingly random points, but the headset wasn't quality enough to pick it up as much.

But I'm confused. USB audio bypasses the soundcard, so what could be causing my problem? Is it iTunes being a ? I heard it happening in my Fallout 3 audio too (though in-game audio is fine for Fallout 3, BioShock, and L4D). Will a Sound Blaster fix this? I don't know much about external soundcards, so recommendations are greatly appreciated.
