I am thinking of buying a Vaio NR.
I will use it for webpage design, small business bookkeeping, email and internet. I will not do gaming on it, but will run the DVD.

    What is the best choice?

2GB RAM and Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor2330
    or
1GB RAM and Intel Core 2 Dual Processor T5250

    Thanks.

well, that depends on the os you are running. both procecssors will suit your preferences. since vista is using a lot of ram you should definitly get more ram.

On the other hand , the ram you can easily upgrade yourself, while you will probably not upgrade your cpu.

i would get the t5250 and install 2 x1 GB of ram.

Thanks. In what way will the t5250 make the use of the computor better for me?

I would get the 1GB memory and T5250. As mentioned above, the ram is easily upgradable (and cheaper) when you do it yourself. T5250 has more L2 cache and uses faster FSB so memory access/speed is faster as well.

As said above I would get the Core 2 and upgrade RAM myself. As to your question "In what way will t5250 make" you will see no difference between the two with the tasks you mention. But in the future if you do other tasks you might notice a slight improvement.

one difference you might experience, since the t5250 will probably not consume that much power, your battery should last a little longer.

Thanks. Do I dare to open the RAM compartment and upgrade the 1GB for the 2GB? Some reviewers on Amazon have said that this part on the VAIO very easily breaks and disables the computor.
Here is another comment on this. And another comment.

I could of course get the VAIO VGN-NR285E/T model. It is about $50 more, approximately the same as a separate purchase 2GB RAM. It has T5450 (perhaps even better than T5250?) and 2GB already included.

you defintitly can open the ram compartment and install your own ram.

people to tend to tell about something not working. You won´t hear a lot if somebody managed to install the ram without problems. But you will hear from the people that had problems.

just make sure sure you follow the steps for a safe installation of your new ram. should be written in the manual or repair manual.

I'd get the better processor. You can upgrade RAM yourself, anyway. It's very cheap to get nowadays and upgrading is easy to do.

If 960x540 or 1920x1080 pixel resolution is burned onto a DVD-R disc, what will be required for it to be played on the laptop? Must the laptop have HD or BluRay drive? Or will Processor T5450 and 2GB RAM be enough?
