This is probably a no brainer for most of you but I bought my first laptop which is a Compaq Presario F756NR Notebook and I'm just wondering if it is okay and safe to run the laptop without the battery? And if it is okay, will the battery have a shorter life if I don't use it for some time? Thanks in advance. :)

Wrong forum, but it should work just fine, only real caveat is if the power goes out or it gets inadvertantly unplugged, it goes off just a like a desktop with out a UPS. Properly stored your battery should be fine.
    Check out this battery guide,

Like what Icey said, there's no downside other than power outages. I've been running my laptop like this for about 4 months now charging/discharging the battery almost daily and removing it when fully charged and it still has 0% wear while my previous laptop was probably close to 10% by this same time. So it may be a little bit of a hassle removing the battery at first but it keeps your battery in good condition for much longer.
