Hey guys i recently bought a Toshiba Satellite A100-SK9. The guy at the store told that battery only lasts 1-2 years and then u need a new one. Thats y i bought extended warranty. Is that true? Also when im burning dvd the battery gets really hot. Is that normal?

    thanx in advance

your battery will really last 1-2 years if it is really hot

lithium battery's life/capacity shortens faster if it's hotter

and it's normal for battery to get warm (don't know about hot or what you define as hot) as it's under load/giving out high current

You can just run it off of AC power; however that kind of defeats the purpose of a laptop. You could also just buy a new battery when the time calls for it. Just don't get oen now because as soon as batteries are made "wet" their lifetime starts to tick down.

That is one of the reason that I bought two batteries, so I can keep my notebook for at least 4 yrs, it has been two yrs now, and my first battey is starting to die

Um, Doesn't the battery's life span still decrease if its not in use?

Yes, but you can do things to extend it a bit. If you keep a lithium battery at ~40% charge and then store it somewhere cool, it'll last much longer than one which is in regular use in a laptop.

I dont think any warranties cover laptop batteries beyond oen year.
