    Hi everyone,
I am new and not very experienced...My HP Pavilion dv1000 died and the battery stopped chargind. I bought a new Rayovac battery, and after going through all the charge program, it is charging only to 10%. the computer is not recognising the battery. Should I install a driver? Any idea what I can do to get the computer recognize it?

Please do not make duplicate threads. I have deleted your other one.

There are no drivers for the battery. That is why it is recommended you purchase a geniune HP battery.

You're kind of screwed. There isn't much you can do other than unplug the computer and run the battery down to 0%, restart, and try charging again. Like flipfire said, you need to get a manufacturer certified battery.

    You bought a rayovac battery?
Sorry, but that isnt going to work. an aa battery or whatever will not work in your laptop. I am pretty sure rayovac does not make laptop batteries.

You will have to get a new battery from a battery warehouse.
Just run a google shopping search for the battery you have, (just type in battery model number) and you should be able to get a new battery for pretty cheap.
