My new laptop is coming soon, and I'm just curious as to whether doing a complete 100% to 0% battery calibration is recommended or necessary or just a waste of charge-cycles?

Thanks, flipfire. And how will I know if the laptop battery is newly manufactured? Is there a manufacturing date on the battery?

The Notebook Hardware control shows the wear level in the battery tab. It's a good indication of usage.

For date of manufacturing, may be you can check with the serial number.

Batteries begin degrading the moment they are manufactured, so pay no attention to wear levels reported by programs; as long as the laptop performs within manufacturer's specifications, the battery is good.
