Sorry if these threads appear everyday. I just wanted a second opinion. Recently, I took the AC adaptor out of my laptop and usually it switches to the battery. This time it just shut down. I booted it back up and it said battery critical.
The fan is constantly on, and there is a delay when typing, like it lags.
I've had the laptop 3 1/2 years now. I've never taken the battery out (didn't know you could until today!). It's an Acer 1690.
I just took the battery out and the fan has totally stopped and I can type freely again. So I'm guessing the battery has just finally died? £50 for a new one - considering whether it's worth it or not because I'm liking the quietness.
Cheers.

if you don't need one (which it does not sound like you do), then don't get one. One less battery going into landfill/garbage. Save your money also.

Since you've been using the AC adapter for over 3 years, doesn't it mean that you'll be using the laptop plugged in most of the time anyway? Buying a new battery seems pointless that way.
Unless you're getting more mobile lately and really need the battery life, I'd suggest not to get a new oneWho knows you might even consider getting a new notebook to replace it ;0

Nuh I got an awesome PC but I use the laptop when I'm on xbox or guitar etc. Guess I don't need a new one - the only reason I'd need the battery is if I take it to the toilet with me
But you didn't need to know that...
Battery gone
