I wont be using my X61 for a little over a month, what's the best way to park it? Should I seperate it from the battery? Should I discharge the battery and leave it on? Or should I do both?

    Thanks

Just discharge to 40% and store it in a cool place.

It's currently at zero percent on the laptop. Should I charge it to 40% and then remove it or keep it or what. Guys please?

Absolutely never store a battery with no charge it can permanently damage "destroy" it. When you run your battery down to nothing it actually still has some charge their is a circuit that ensures this. The reason is if you run a Li-Ion down below the battery's low-voltage threshold it can a)Explode when being recharged or b) To avoid problem "a" the safety circuit will not allow charging meaning your batt is toast. Battery's loose charge over time even when not used. If you store with low charge (the point where the circuit says empty) the continued natural loss of charge can take it to the low voltage threshold discussed before.

The absolute best thing you can do is what star882 said above + put in a Zip-Lock bag in the refrigerator.

What I would do personally? Nothing (other than not store at 0%) I would leave it in I might store at 40% I might not, the battery is going to eventually fail no matter what you do and I just don't worry that much. Just my opinion. ;)

Ya, charge it to 40% and store it in cool dry place, somewhat cooler would be better, but won't make a big difference

    Hi,

My question may seem strange, but I don't know how to properly use a notebook  . I am always plugging in the charging device and charging notebook. I was told that I should unplug charging device, wait untill baterry is empty and charge it again, and this is the way to save a battery life. Could anyone tell me what is the right way to use a notebook? Thank you in advance for your replies :) .

Marita that advice you were told is wrong and is harder (shorter life) than kepping plugged in. Check the thread you started it has a link for all you need to know.
