I have a Dialogue Flybook A33i. The battery is completely "dead". It seems to be very difficult to get a new battery or to get the old battery refilled in this particular case.
I would like to try to replace the original battery with corresponding one from an other manufacturer. The idea was to solder a short piece of electric wire between the computer and the battery. Is this possible? Does the electronics in the battery communicate with the computer?
    Thanks for your help.

post a picture of your battery.

The battery has a small microcontroller and communicates with the computer. Different batteries have different microcontrollers. In the worst case the charging controller in your current battery charges the battery with maybe 1A, the other charging controller in the other battery charges the battery with 3A and thus will damage your mainboard and power supply.

Best thing is to open the old battery and replace the old cells with new cells. Just open the battery casing.

    edit:
Why shouldn't it be possible to open this battery?

I'm not saying that the opening of the battery case is difficult. I'm just saying that companies that do battery refilling don't want to refill this battery. I tried several different companies. And I don't know why. My assumption is, that the controller inside the battery is difficult to reset. An other possibility is that this is not very common battery and they just want to stick with what they know.

As you said, the Flybook is not well known, thus I think they don't know what cells it has and if they have the right cells at all.

That's why I said that you could do it :)
Open it, take a look at the cells, buy them, replace them youself or let a friend solder it for you, and be happy again :p

The charge controller shouldn't have a problem with the new cells, he should accept any Li-Ion cell with the correct voltage you give him.

    Thank you.
I think that now I have gathered enough courage to try to open the battery my self. We'll see what happens.

    lol!
Let me first sabotage the battery that I have. If it doesn't work, then I start thinking about alternative methods to get my hands on a new battery..
And I'm from northern Europe so the mailing might cost a bit. But I'll keep you in mind. How wrong am I if I assume that I can reach you from [email protected]?
