    Hi,

My first post here. I have a Latitude E6510 and I'm adding a SSD. The Dell service manual says to slide the battery release tabs and slide the battery out. It will not slide. I've tried prying it out with narrow screw driver blades, but it will not budge. I'm afraid I'm going to pust too hard and stab the interior with the screw driver blade. Should I disassemble the whole laptop to get the battery out?

My Toshiba has another catch on the bottom. You slide that one over, then hold the other to bring it out

Might be the same on your Dell?

You may call me stupid, but there may be another out there nearly as stupid as me. The reason my battery was stuck was because the Dell pdf said to push in the two tabs and slide the battery out. I assumed the tabs were part of the battery unit. There is a nice separation seam between the tab unit and the frame and I was trying to pry it apart. This is why video tutorials are far superior to written documents. Also, I discovered that when you slide in the new SSD (in my case) you must hold it so the pins stay up tight to the bottom plate. If you just push it in, the pins can drop down due to gravity and the pins are not inserted and the back screws will not reach the SSD.
