Hello Experts !
I am now banging my head in frustration with getting my new SSD to work in AHCI mode.
My computer is setup with Primary Drive as an Intel G2 80GIG with my Win 7 64 bit.
My 2nd drive was a mechanical that I have cloned to the Samsung 830 256gig. I have swapped them in my laptop and the drive works in IDE mode, but not in AHCI mode. I understand i need AHCI mode for Trim to work and performance boots.
I have tried the following:
Error message when you start a Windows 7 or Windows Vista-based computer after you change the SATA mode of the boot drive: "STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE" (used the fix it for me option)
To be clear, my Intel SSD works perfectly, and is my Operating System drive. It is just the Samsung storage drive that is not working in AHCI mode. It is recognized in IDE mode.
I am using an ASUS G73 JH. ( ASUS - Notebooks- ASUS G73Jh)
Please please please please help !

Hello,
In my e-mail I see a response to this post, but I do not see it here in the thread?
Anyways I will answer the response:
When I cloned the Mechanical drive, I have to use Windows Management to shrink the drive down to the same size as the the SSD as it was a 500gig drive. This was the only way for Norton (edit: Norton Ghost 15) to allow me to clone the drive as it would not let me go from a larger drive to a smaller drive.
In addition I have also downloaded an installed the latest firmware for my chipset in case this was the issue.
Any help would be so greatly appreciated !

Yeah, cloning... (best way to waste your time (if/when) things go wrong)...
What I suggest is simply formatting the Samsung 830 SSD (on another system) and then installing it on your Asus notebook.
Then, when it is confirmed that it is working properly with AHCI enabled, simply copy your data over to it.
Make sure you are using the latest Intel RST drivers for your chipset too (stay away from v11.5).
Good luck.
