I would like to purchase a used laptop for which I have seven days to return and would like to know how to best test everything in this laptop to know if it's working at 100%. I can do the usual pc testing like chckdsk, Ram size, defrag, check disk space, if OS is updated but what about internet, memory and cpu testing? How can I best test those 3? Should I use Memtest and cpuburn e.t.c?

I'd run memtest for sure-ram errors can hide for a while and become really annoying.

cpuburn, prime95, etc. would be a good idea to run for a day and just make sure it's stable. Don't cover up the air intake or output during that time or you might have a problem.

Internet testing....use the internet. Download something big and see if it holds a steady rate or transfer large files over your network if you have one-that will be much better. Internet uses a small percentage of the available bandwidth (at least American internet anyways).

Make sure you run the full chkdsk that checks the physical disk, not just the filesystems and files.

Otherwise, the most important testing....Use the laptop. If something goes wrong, figure out why or send it back. If it passes memtest, runs prime for 12 hours or so, and doesn't drop the internet connection, it would probably be g2g for me.
