I'm looking for the best 14" LVDS screen I can find (so if you know of any better ones do tell).
I've narrowed my search down to these two, the:
N140FGE-LA2: http://www.panelook.com/N140FGE-LA2_Innolux_14.0_LCM_overview_20841.html
and the
LP140WD2-TLG1: http://www.panelook.com/LP140WD2-TLG1_LG Display_14.0_LCM_overview_17530.html
The former has a slightly better contrast, while the latter has a much better response time and viewing angles. Which would you choose? Or is there something even better out there?

I would choose the LG panel, only because I have had two different LG panels (both 15.6") with different resolutions and both are gorgeous. One of the is 1600x900 and it looks great at 15.6". I would wager it looks even better on a 14" screen.
BTW, that LG panel is also the same one that Dell sold with their M14X models. Read this review:

Just make sure the LVDS connector is on the same side as the panel you are replacing.TomJGX likes this. -
Agreed, the LG displays I've had in my laptops have always looked great!

Thanks for the responses guys. Especially you kosti, that review was great. That said isn't a shorter response time typically better for gaming? I'm not well verse in the differences between response times (hence me bring it up) but a time of 16(ms?) seems a lot longer than a time of 3/7(ms?). How much should this factor in?
-
Yes the shorter response time is better... Which pannel has the smaller amount?
-
The first screen has a response time of 3/7 (I guess it varies?) and the second is 16. The links I put in my OP have all the stats of both screens. They're both very good, but I'm just having trouble deciding which is the best overall screen for general usage and gaming/media.

Well the M14X was a gaming laptop so the screen Dell chose must have been adequate for gaming.
I found a review of a Lenovo Ideapad U430 which uses the N140FGE-EA2 display (most likely the same as the N140FGE-LA2). The screen did not impress the reviewers:

Get the LG... You shouldn't have any issues with it even with the higher response time.. The new 15.6" IPS pannels have 25-35ms response time and are fine...

I have personally never seen an LG (or Philips) panel I didn't like, whether it's for computers or televisions. They are quality panels indeed.

I'd take a LG pannel any day over these Chi Mei pannels which are usually junk..
