I have been looking for an SSD for my M17x R3, and would like something that is atleast 250gb(i did an estimate and figured i need around 1tb of storage space). I don't want to spend more than 600$. Also i would prefer to avoid OCZ cause there have been some compatibility issues with OCZ on the M17x R3

How reliable is Crucial compared to Intel 510?
Also i am getting a brand new Samsung 470 256gb for 375$. Should I take the deal or get a SATA 3 ssd like the m4 or 510. How much of a performance difference us there between a good sata 2 SSd like the samsung and a sata 3 m4 or 510

No one knows reliability rates for Intel 510 or Crucial C400. They use the same controller and same NAND. Different firmware. I think Intel has the edge.

During normal usage it will be very hard to notice the difference between SATA III drives and the fastest SATA II drives.

One will boot Windows in 13 seconds, the other in 15 seconds. Those kind of differences.

I don't know. Techreport has done a RAID review on Intel X25v. Might be worth looking into.
