Which is the best hdd in the 640gb size ?

i've a dell precision m4500 and i want to put a big disk and an SSD , and a 1tb disck external for backup ssd+hdd...

i think 640 ( really how much ? ) and a ssd 120gb like F120 corsair ( 110gb ) is the limit to use an 1tb external drive for backup all...

What about getting an optical bay drive caddy? If you dont use your optical drive you can use it for a second hard drive.

Then just have an external optical drive for when you need it.

A 640 GB Samsung HM640JJ formats to 596 GB in NTFS. I think the Samsung HM640JJ is actually the only 7200 RPM 640 GB drive presently; Seagate and WD both jumped up to 750 GB 7200 RPM drives instead.

The 750GB WD Black is probably the best pick.

Isn't the 750 GB Scorpio Black a bit pricey right now? Why not just get the 500 GB Scorpio Black which can be had for ~60 USD. I personally like my Scorpio Blue 640 GB in my D620, runs cool and quiet.

^ This. The larger cache is a plus, too.
