I'm looking for a new hard drive for a bit more speed, need no more than 200GB really as I have lots of external space. Just wondered which brands i should be looking at for that kind of price and for the fastest speeds.

    What system do you have?
    and
Do you know what interface the harddrive uses?
If its SATA, you have a great variety of drives to choose from.
If its ATA you have a small selection, but if you want power and speed go for the Samsung HM160HC. It is the fastest ATA harddrive.

If you have SATA, you would want either a 320gb 7200rpm drive from WD, Hitachi, Seagate or Samsung, or the new 500gb 5400rpm drives from Hitachi, WD, or Seagate.

The link I posted is currently the best deal for a 320gb 7200rpm drive in the UK. The 500GB drives are £85+.
