I was looking into the Dell Inspiron 14" and Dell Studio 14"
The Dell Studio has
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T6600 (2.20GHz/ 800 FSB/ 2MB Cache) with 4GB Dual-channel 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM (2 x 2GB)
However since the FSB of the processor is restricted to 800, will that act as a constraint for maximum usage of DDR3 ram ?
The Dell Inspiron has
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T6600 (2.20GHz/ 800 FSB/ 2MB Cache) with 4GB (2x2G) Dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM ..
Also i can add the 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 for the same price as Dell Studio 14"
Since i am a student ,price is a constraint . Any help on which of the two may help me better ?
My main usage is for testing OPENGL applications(graphics) and multitasking. Please Help.

You can always upgrade the CPU later.
You will not notice the difference between DDR3 and DDR2, but the DDR3 will be cheaper to upgrade down the road.
What GPU does the studio have? If it's not dedicated then I would take the inspiron.
Since you're a student, don't you get a discount? because that's what happens here in Australia as long as you provide a student email address. -
The Dell Studio 14" has Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD in place of GPU
I'm not sure what the above component is or how it ll help . I stay in India and as such they don't show me any discounts in the dell site. -

I would get the inspiron because it has the better GPU.

You said you will be doing Open GL graphics. Then you definitely want a dedicated graphics card.

You might want to look at a dell studio 15 at least then... if u can try getting a studio 17 with a ATI 4650 card + core i7 processor... if it's there on dell website... u'll have the ultimate computer for ur needs...
Best Integration ?
