I have had a Dell 2407WFP for probably close to ten years now, and it has been awesome the entire time. It has been perfect, only that it is getting dated as far as inputs. DVI, VGA, no HDMI or DisplayPort. Plus it sucks up well over 60W+ at full brightness. I would like something at least as beautiful as this LCD, with decent response time (this one has 8ms and is perfectly fine). Great viewing angles, brightness, contrast, no backlight bleed or dead or stuck pixels, and best of all 1920x1200. I love everything about it. 24" is the perfect size as well. I'm sure anything newer will consume less than half the power, and not run quite so hot. I can feel the heat emanating off this thing.

Anyone have any suggestions? Up to $400? I'm considering the Dell Ultra U2412M, but it has a max power draw of about 72W, with 38W listed as "typical". I've measured the power from my current monitor and it is 60-65W with settings I use, about 80% brightness.

Is power draw a big concern?

For price i would go for a larger CCFL, but if you don't want a free tanning you may concider LED, but only then ;)

Maybe I don't need something new, just that it's been a bit of a pain wanting to hook up laptops with HDMI or Display port and it doesn't have it. My power button on the monitor doesn't work any more so rely on sleep mode from the computer, otherwise have to unplug and plug it back in. Otherwise it's a perfectly fine monitor. Just the little things that sometimes get annoying. Power draw is only a concern mainly because of the heat it dissipates. I mean I literally feel like I am sitting in front of a tanning bed sometimes, lol.

Both the ZR2440w and the U2412M are 6-bit eIPS panels - I would consider them a downgrade from the 2407WFP.

Your problem is very easily fixed. Buy two cables. One that is HDMI to DVI, and another that is Displayport to DVI. They use the same electrical signals and these cables are very cheap. If your monitor is perfect for you, you have no need whatsoever to replace it!!! My monitor has only DVI and VGA inputs and this is what I do.

Also, if the brightness isn't what it used to be, look into replacing the CCFL bulb.

    Duh.

At least my post had something to do with OP's initial concern - whether typed in Comic Sans or not - while you just...

    Right.

Get a life, kiddo. You may end up enjoying it.

True, but I'm not aware of anything under $400 that would be significantly better in this respect while meeting all the other requirements.

    Any suggestions?
