Okay so what is the best 20-24 inch monitor on the market right now for a reasonable price? Good colors/picture quality are more important than price, Also i hear LED is better than LCD...

    Thanks.

this for the hdmi out from your laptop or what?

led backlighting is thinner, much better contrast ratio, and often fuller color gamut -- but until you get into the kind of professional gear that would prohibit you from posting here you won't care much about color gamut differences -- get the cheapest one with those 2 features (thin bezel, high contrast) and the connector you need.

connectors are standardizing away from DVI to display port, or display port to dvi (I forget, but one is out for sure) so if you are like I am, and try to keep monitors until amateur collectors start calling you with offers, I'd wait.

also, if you can really wait, its not entirely implausable to imagine mainstream OLED screens in the next 4ish years.

short answer, the best monitor is the one on your desk, followed up closely by the one your friend can loan you, .. and only coming in a distant 3rd is the cheapest one at the local store.

I find Dell U2211H and U2311H are very reasonable priced monitor that use eIPS panel rather than TN. Both are 1920x1080.

If price is not an issue, get the best IPS(may be Eizo?).

Now sure if IPS is good for gaming(if you need that) though.

Set a price OP: under $300, $250, $200? Also how your monitor will be use is also an important factor.

Dell U2211H which is on sale for 230 something. That is the cheapest IPS panel I can find.

I bought the U2311H early this year when it was selling @ similar price.
