Hey,
I've made a similar thread in the Toshiba forum, but I guess I'll get more exposure here! Currently, have a Toshiba Satellite A665-11Z with 4GB RAM which has a speed of 1066MHz RAM. I've checked using AIDA64 and the max speed it supports is 1333MHz ( Droplr•Screenshot on 07.01.2012 at 14.38.37.png - screenshot).
So I've found an 8GB Kit which has a speed of 1333MHz on 2x4GB sticks (kit in question: Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz Laptop Memory Kit.. | Ebuyer.com)
I'm just wondering, is this the fastest RAM I could possibly get? I really don't know much about RAM timings and what my laptop can support etc, but I want the fastest possible. My current ones show: Droplr•Screenshot on 07.01.2012 at 14.41.47.png

Unless you're using one of the very few programs that can actually translate 'faster ram' to faster real world performance, you're chasing a unicorn.
Assuming Win7x64:
2x4GB > than 2x2GB or 1x4GB and is < 2x8GB or 4x8GB SoDimm modules.
That is all most people need to know about RAM.
'Timings' are a way to get more money out of your pocket.
Good luck. -
I like to know every detail where possible, if I wanted to know only if it worked or not, I'd go and ask on some less technically inclined forum.
Thanks anyway.

You're welcome...
To spend your money needlessly and to think you're limited to 8GB too. -
Well... the specs page of my laptop say so... and besides, only 2 slots.

Specs are not written in stone (unless you try 2x8GB, you'll never know for sure if your system supports it or not...) - many examples on the net where spec's were not updated to show correct information for the most current SoDimm modules available.
Even the system I'm using has 16GB RAM but HP says 'not supported'.

But I don't need 16GB RAM... I have no use nor money to pay that much.

They design particular model they decide how much RAM or which CPU/GPU / HDD will be there and they don't include upgrade guides cos most people don't mess with laptop upgrade and they state is set even they are not 100% sure
the 100% sure will be by end user
best way is to try on our own experience -
I can see why you say that. Toshiba laptops aren't built by Toshiba but by Compal... (who suck).

Check to see what type of memory your laptop supports, go to Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more! and find a kit with plenty of positive reviews, low price and free shipping. Done. For a laptop you really don't need to worry about speed or timings.

Alienware is sold to dell , IBM laptops are sold to lenovo hp took comaq
it's like with cars these days
And if laptop is planned too be produced even that design is made by totally different company or some designers team which has nothing to do with production of laptops and then they are of course paid for they work
All hardware cable or caddies all connectors or flex cables or clips for everything what is necessary inside laptops are made by Foxconn
only few companies making this items by themselves
For example Acer S3 is made by Wistron company ; they cooperate together -
