Hello and my apologies if this needs to be posted in the Apple thread, but I have a black macbook late 2007 model 3.1 2.2 ghz and 4gb of ram with snow leopard 10.6.8 installed. I was wondering what would be the best model ssd that would be compatible with this machine? I may be misunderstanding something, but I have read where Osx does not support Trim natively. I'm not 100% sure if that is true or not. I am looking at anywhere from 120gb up to 256gb or something in between. Any suggestions and experiences are very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Perhaps other Mac Book users can opine, but I've seen many a Mac user post about using OS X with Samsung, Crucial or Intel. Perhaps they can offer a better or more detailed suggestion. The big thing is to make sure you use Trim Enabler with your new SSD to enable TRIM.

Also, if you have need for any of the other tools, you'll most likely need to consider something like Boot Camp as most tools from SSD vendors do not have OS X versions of their utilities.

I would go Intel for your ssd. The best bet.

Thanks for the info. I will probably not be using other tools needed in bootcamp. I will be looking at those ssd's to install, I just want to get the most out of whichever brand ssd I use.

I ordered an Intel 320 160gb that should be in today. Hoping it all works out. Would it be ok to clone the drive using super duper or would it be better to do a fresh install?
