Sucks. I wonder what's worse for our comps: hot+humid or hot+no wind?

So it gets to be about 98degrees here in the Summer. And it's not too far below that indoors, and I have very poor ventilation in my house. Should I repaste? Or will that not do much since my environment isn't that great anyhow?

no i just saying humidity in the air for several reasons. can make you sweat more than dry air. now when it's really really hot and air is dry, you're probably sweating still and it evaporating quick. anyways, back on topic. i'm assuming you won't have good a/c and perhaps ventilation. i would recommend repasting if you can. it always helps in the life of laptop. it doesn't help as much if you have hot air in room. i recommend repasting if you can with as5 or shin etus 7783d and getting a cheap 12v electric fan for under <$10 rather than a laptop cooler also. put the fan in the back with laptop raised up more than usual, or put fan on opposite side of exhaust fan and blow the air underneath your propped laptop and with the exhause air away. the 12v should do plenty to force air away from your laptop and help keep the hot air out so fan/s will be more effective.

If you have stock paste on still, then you should repaste. If you have previously done it, then just make sure you use compressed air to clean the fan and grill occasionally. I studied in the Caribbean for two years with that kind of heat and a very humid weather and I repasted before I went. Almost 4 years since then and still running well. I'll probably repaste it when I have a 2 week break at Christmas.

Thanks for the tips guyz. Will try to get a hold of some thermal paste asap.

Oh, btw, can anyone suggest a good method for applying MX-4? How about for AS5 or Shin-Etsu? I was gonna just put a drop on and follow the method that Dane and/or Joebarchuck describe in their respective threads, but was wondering if I should spread it (like with a credit card) before slapping the cpu/gpu back on?

no experience with mx4 here. as5 is so freaking easy. just a dab/drop and smooth out with card. shin etsu is harder but worth the effort. seems arctic products are easier overall than other brands. not saying all of them are easy, but just reading over other arctic products compared to other brands, arctic is definitely for noobs.
