I have a 5 year old T60 with a tiny trackpad that i hardly use. i mainly use the pointer button in the middle. as i look for a new laptop i have a choice to make. whether to stay with a business laptop (lenovo, elitebook, precision) because of the ease of pointing devices or go to a high performance gaming laptop (asus g) with just a track pad.
so i have 2 questions:
1. what laptops have multi-touch trackpad support?
2. which laptops have the best and easiest to use trackpads?

The best trackpads in the industry by far are the Apple trackpads... The multitouch gestures, the feel, the size, everything on them is just perfect.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
If you're looking for a machine mainly to use the trackpoint, though, you should probably stick with a ThinkPad... most other implementations of the trackpoint aren't quite as good if you ask me. -

^Thirded! The Glass Multitouch trackpad is the absolute best.
Otherwise, ALWAYS look for the Synaptics pads. Alps can be done right, but it's really a rare thing. HP has some atrocious ALPS pads. -
^Fourthed - as much as it pains me to say it, apple DEFINITELY, 100% wins at making trackpads (as long as they put a second (Right) mouse button, which is something they usually have a problem with idk why)
I think the trackpad on the 15inch MBP is probably double the size of the one on my 17inch dv7 -

Just as a counter point: while the apple trackpad might be the best there is - they definitely make my hands hurt using them (we're talking minutes not hours).
I vote for the invincible ThinkPAD TrackPoint!
I do have to say though that the U30Jc is just precise enough as a trackpad that I don't need it for 'regular' use of the notebook. With any precision required though (PS, etc.), the mouse comes out.
Best Trackpad?
