Hey guys, here is my problem. I have a MSI MS-1651 that I upgraded from a glossy 15.4 "WXGA screen to a WUXGA matte panel from my previous laptop. Everything worked fine but I always found the panel to be a bit dark even when I was using it on my previous laptop(Compal IFL90). The panel eventually started to get darker and darker up to the point where the only place where you could see the screen was in total darkness :( ... So I cannibalized the ccfl bulb from the wsxga panel to put it in the WUXGA one. I also transferred all the reflector parts to the WUXGA(stupidest idea ever). The WUXGA got much bright alright but I damaged it in the process and now I have a yellow,1 pixel-wide line running down the panel and some massive light leakage on the bottom part of the screen...

Since I'm in the process of doing a major overhaul to my machine(just got a new GPU for it  ), I'll need to change the screen. Could anyone tell me what would be the brightest WUXGA 15.4" LCD panel model I could get? If you don't know the manufacturer and model of it, just tell me which laptop has it so that I can search from there. Thanks.

Well, I also upgraded my WXGA+ screen to my current WUXGA matte screen and the panel I have now is amazing. It is the LP154WU1 TL-B1 and it is a pretty good screen. I can't comment on the brightness but it doesn't seem lacking in that area. You generally can't go wrong with LG screens ;).

but the question is , will the pannel be compatible? Will it have the proper attachement points to ur laptop? That's the main problem with screen upgrades.

Every lcd panel is interchangeable as long as you stick with the same diagonal size, aspect ration and backlighting technology. Only problem one might encounter is an incompatible LVDS cable when trying to upgrade from WXGA to somthing higher.

I'll go with the P154WU1 TL-B1 since you guys are pretty happy with it.

    Hi all.
Ayle, where you replacing your screen on your IFL90? How did it fit, everything's fine? My standard wuxga+ starts to loose its contact and lines started to appear, apparently because of camera cable and a lot to transporting. I probably won't connect camera after replace.
